Kevin Xu Was Invited to Attend CGI U 2023 Conference

  From March 3rd to 5th, the 19th annual meeting of Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) was held at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. This was the first in-person meeting held by CGI U since the COVID-19 in 2019. Policy makers, economic leaders, global experts, cultural giants, and 700 student leaders from around the world with global impact in business, public service, and social impact gathered to "take action together" and develop innovative solutions to solve urgent challenges facing the world today. Kevin Xu, Chairman of board of directors of MEBO Group, a CGI member and CGI U commissioner, attended the special reception and opening ceremony as a VIP guest. The 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, the founder of the Clinton Foundation and former U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, the Vice President of MPH at the Clinton Foundation, Chelsea Clinton, Vanderbilt University President Daniel Diermeier, and the CEO of the Clinton Global Initiative University, Ragina Arrington, attended the conference. Bill Clinton met the members of International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI) and the American Burn Association (ABA), two major organizations joining the new initiative.

  At the opening ceremony, Suhamith Singh Sahi, a medical school student, social entrepreneur, and health activist, spoke about how the "COVID-19 Student Action Fund" initiated by Kevin Xu in collaboration with the Clinton Foundation helped him and his community. Suhamith Singh Sahi was one of the 30 winners of the COVID-19 Student Action Fund Award.

  The conference discussed how to create viable education in post-conflict era and pave the way for innovation in basic education; how young people, governments, civil society, and businesses can work together to uphold climate justice in communities most affected by climate change; how to address women's issues, including eliminating barriers to women's participation in society, the economy, and politics; and how entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, governments, and financial institutions can collaborate in a sustainable and equitable manner during COVID-19. Attendees also discussed how to take advantage of these challenges and move forward in the face of setbacks and uncertainties.

  As always, the CGI U 2023 conference would provide a shared platform for the next generation of global leaders, connecting innovative thinkers from diverse backgrounds. They would bring creative policies and explore solutions to various challenges, promote sustainable development worldwide, and co-create a healthier, more environmentally friendly, fairer, and more equitable future.
