The 35th European Wound Management Association (EWMA) Conference Held in Barcelona
The 35th European Wound Management Association (EWMA) Conference occurred from March 26 to 28 in Barcelona, gathering 6,000 experts from 90+ countries. Under the theme "‘Moving towards excellence in wound management by breaking frontiers and silos," the event facilitated interdisciplinary collaboration and showcased cutting-edge advancements in wound management.
Key Highlights
EWMA President Kirsi Isoherranen opened the conference, emphasizing global academic initiatives in wound care. With 800+ keynote presentations, the event provided insights into groundbreaking research and clinical strategies.
Nearly 200 pharmaceutical and medical technology companies participated. MEBO International, an eight-time participant, highlighted its regenerative products, including MEBO Moist Exposed Burn Ointment and wound care patches, sparking discussions on their clinical applications.
Regenerative Medicine Focus
Beyond the exhibition, regenerative medicine emerged as a focal point of academic discussion throughout the conference. On the first afternoon, a dedicated symposium, "Reshaping Wound Healing: From Clinical Practice to Technological Innovation," took center stage. As a pivotal initiative under the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) program "Mending Europe: Empowering the Establishment of Regeneration Network," the symposium explored innovative regenerative medicine applications in acute and chronic wound management.
Life Regeneration Action Global Tour
A significant highlight of the symposium was the European debut of the Life Regeneration Action Global Tour, an initiative launched in 2015. This program has since contributed significantly to advancing medical training, disaster response, burn treatment, and women's and children's healthcare, underscoring MEBO International's commitment to improving global health outcomes.
Looking Ahead
As one of Europe's most influential academic platforms, EWMA continues to shape the future of wound management worldwide. The conference strengthened the role of regenerative medical technology in Europe and laid the groundwork for further global collaboration. The next EWMA Conference is set to take place in Bremen, Germany, in May 2026—an event eagerly anticipated by the international wound care community.
