EWMA Was Held to Discuss the Future Development of Regenerative Medicine

On May 5th, the 33rd Congress of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) concluded. During three-day meeting, over 100 high-quality scientific lectures, workshops, and electronic posters constituted a splendid academic feast to the global participants. Thanks to its advantages in clinical application, regenerative medicine once again became the highlight of this meeting  clinical application advantages.
On the first afternoon of the meeting, the Regenerative Medicine Workshop, organized by the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair, was successfully held under the theme "From Wound Healing to Tissue Regeneration: Latest Clinical Evidence of Regenerative Medicine." This workshop focused on the theme of this year's meeting, as well as the core principles of regenerative medical technology.
The first speaker of the workshop was Mohd Zurairie, the Head of Wound Management Department at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Malaysia. He delivered a speech titled "Enhancing the Experience of Pediatric Traumatic Wound Treatment: Strategies for Pain Reduction". In his speech, he introduced the mechanisms and effects of regenerative medical technologies in alleviating pain.
Subsequently, Dr. Glenn Genuino, Director of the Burn Surgery Department at the Philippine General Hospital, Manila, discussed the effective treatment of burn patients using regenerative medical technology in the limited healthcare conditions.
The final speaker, Dr. Jamil Halabi, a surgeon from the Tannourine Government Hospital and Bekhazi Medical Center in Lebanon, presented on the topic of "Unveiling the Regenerative Potential of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment from Clinical Practice." He shared the latest academic research findings on regenerative medical technology and highlighted the advantages of this technology in treating wounds in different areas with many clinical cases.
On the afternoon of May 4th, during the keynote speech at the conference, Professor Mahmoud Sakr, a surgical professor at Alexandria University in Egypt, presented on the topic "Evaluation of the Efficacy of Regenerative Medical Technologies in the Treatment of Open Wounds." He shared valuable clinical experiences in applying regenerative medical techniques in treating various types of open wounds.
On the morning of May 5th, Dr. Xiao Hou'an, Director of Burns, Plastic Surgery, and Aesthetic Surgery at the Ninth Hospital of Xi'an City, delivered a keynote speech in the field of burns. His speech was titled "Combining Regenerative Medical Technologies with Autologous Microskin Grafting for the Treatment of Deep Burns and Chronic Wounds." In his presentation, he shared the treatment processes of different wounds, highlighting the significant advantages of regenerative medical technologies.
In addition to the speeches, during the poster exhibition, Solongo Oyunbileg from Venera VIP Clinic in Mongolia, Mohd Zurairie from Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Malaysia, and Jiann Wen Yap from Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Malaysia submitted electronic posters titled "Treatment of Wounds Using Moist Exposed Burn Ointment: A Case Report," "Combined Application of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment and Non-Adherent Silicone Foam Dressing in the Treatment of Pediatric Lower Limb Distal Injuries," and "Management of Pressure Injuries Using Moist Exposed Burn Ointment," respectively. These posters received high praise from the attendees at the event.
The European Wound Management Association Conference is one of the largest academic events in wound management in Europe and holds significant academic importance. This conference laid the foundation for further advancement and rapid development of regenerative medicine in Europe. The 2024 European Wound Management Association Conference will be held in London, United Kingdom, and we are looking forward to its convention!
