Silicon Valley at APEC: AI, Infrastructure & Global Competitiveness Forum Held in Hong Kong

On June 1, 2026, the forum “Silicon Valley at APEC: AI, Infrastructure & Global Competitiveness” was successfully held at the University of Hong Kong campus. The event was jointly hosted by MEBO International, the Bay Area Council, and the University of Chicago, bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, and innovation ecosystems across the Asia-Pacific region.
The forum was structured as a high-level policy and innovation dialogue platform focusing on artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, workforce transformation, and cross-regional competitiveness. It featured keynote remarks, fireside discussions, and three thematic panels addressing AI and the future of work, AI infrastructure and energy systems, and AI-enabled sports and visitor economy innovation.
APEC 2023 Host Committee Chairman and Executive Board Member of the Bay Area Council Kevin Xu delivered welcome remarks, emphasizing APEC’s role as a leading multilateral platform for regional economic cooperation and innovation-driven growth. He highlighted Hong Kong’s strategic position as a global bridge connecting Silicon Valley and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
  论坛特邀湾区委员会经济The program also featured keynote and expert contributions from the Bay Area Council Economic Institute and senior representatives from leading global technology, policy, and academic institutions. Discussions explored AI’s impact on global labor markets, digital infrastructure expansion, energy demand for data-driven economies, and sustainable innovation frameworks.

During the Fourth APEC Silicon Valley Summit Hong Kong Chapter, MEBO International signed a strategic MOU with the NCAPEC Foundation to strengthen APEC-aligned cooperation across public communication, cross-regional dialogue, people-to-people exchange, and sustainable development.

The summit was supported by the HKU Jockey Club Global Institute for Sustainable Development, Clinton Global Initiative, Kevin Xu Institute at the University of Chicago, Equitech Futures, and the Sacramento–China Office. MEBO International reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging platforms such as APEC and CGI to advance regional collaboration and sustainable growth across the Asia-Pacific.
