Chinese President Xi Jinping and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte have reaffirmed their nations' deepening ties. The two leaders on Thursday celebrated the 53rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and vowed to explore new fields of cooperation. President Xi Jinping was received and greeted by President Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace. During their meeting, President Xi vowed to promote pragmatic cooperation by boosting both trade and investment.
For 10 consecutive years, China has been Peru's largest trading partner, thanks to a free trade agreement signed in 2009, making Peru the first Latin American country to sign a package of free trade agreements with China.
Now, the two leaders have witnessed the signing of the upgraded version of the agreement, paving way for a more flexible environment for investment.
In a declaration titled "deepening comprehensive strategic partnership," the two countries have vowed to boost cooperation in infrastructure, energy and the mining industry and explore new areas of collaboration such as the digital economy and innovation.
