Kevin Xu Strengthens Collaboration with Obama Foundation at Presidential Center Visit
On October 18, 2024, Kevin Xu, Chairman of MEBO Group, visited the under-construction Obama Presidential Center at the invitation of the Obama Foundation. During the visit, Xu and foundation representatives explored new opportunities for collaboration between the Obama Foundation and the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation.
A Legacy of Collaboration: MEBO Group and President Obama
MEBO Group’s connection to President Obama dates back to 2013 when Obama highlighted "developing drugs to regenerate damaged organs" in his State of the Union address. This perfectly aligned with MEBO’s innovative research and set the stage for a long-term partnership. Xu has been actively involved in various Obama Foundation initiatives, including summits and youth leadership forums.
Kevin Xu’s strategic involvement with the Obama Presidential Center has shaped its development since the foundation’s inception. Xu has provided valuable advice on site selection and long-term objectives. Both foundations continue to focus on driving philanthropic efforts and sustainability initiatives, with Obama personally advising Xu on organizing APEC 2023. The Kevin Xu Initiative's Global Development Studies program is now a core requirement for Obama Scholars at the University of Chicago.
A Future Hub of Innovation and Cultural Exchange
Scheduled to open in late 2025, the Obama Presidential Center will be a cornerstone for academic exchange, community engagement, and cultural preservation. Xu’s visit reaffirmed the growing collaboration between the two foundations, paving the way for future initiatives.
