22nd ISBI Congress Convenes Successfully in Birmingham
The 22nd Congress of the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI) took place in Birmingham, UK, from August 18-22, 2024, focusing on “Exchanging Knowledge to Improve Burn Care Around the World—Facing the Future.” Co-hosted by the British Burn Association, the event brought together over 1,000 burn care specialists from 47 countries to share insights and collaborate on improving global burn care practices.
ISBI President-elect David Harrington opened the congress by emphasizing the historic submission of 880 abstracts, demonstrating ISBI’s expanding global impact. Current ISBI President Folke Sjoberg outlined upcoming initiatives, including the Global Audit Project. This program aims to standardize burn care practices in developing nations and will launch in eight countries over the next six years.
MEBO International’s Strategic Presence
MEBO International was prominent at the congress, showcasing its cutting-edge regenerative medical technology. The company’s innovative exhibition highlighted contributions to APEC, the Kevin Xu Initiative, and global training programs, attracting significant attention from medical professionals.
Regenerative Medicine in Focus
On the first day, MEBO International hosted a seminar titled “Regenerative Medicine: The Future of Wound Management.” The seminar featured a range of speakers, including MEBO’s Director of Technology, Weiwei Xu, who introduced the company’s global project, “Mending Europe: Empowering the establishment of regeneration network,” which has established a regenerative medicine network across six European countries. Other notable presentations included cutting-edge treatments for facial burns and large-scale burn injuries.
The second day featured a keynote by Gerald Abesamis, who highlighted the clinical benefits of MEBO’s Moist Exposed Burn Therapy (MEBT) for facial burns. His presentation showcased MEBT’s superior healing outcomes and pain relief compared to traditional treatments.
The ISBI Congress remains one of the premier events in global burn care. MEBO International’s contributions at the 2024 congress further solidified the role of regenerative medicine on the world stage. The next congress, scheduled for 2026 in Santiago, Chile, promises to continue this momentum.
