Fortune Magazine: Kevin Xu Discusses Corporate Sustainability

In a special feature commemorating Climate Week NYC, Fortune Magazine invited members of the CEO Initiative to explore the latest corporate advancements toward sustainability commitments. The event emphasized the urgency for global governments and businesses to address the disparity between the emission reductions needed to avert catastrophic climate change and the actions currently being implemented.

Kevin Xu, Chairman of MEBO Group, shared his insights, “Instead of creating short goals, we set benchmarks every 10 years as we gradually upgrade our facilities. However, reaching the ultimate goal is still far behind, as an international corporation has to fulfill compliance and regulation in multiple countries. Without synchronization, it is impossible to holistically achieve full transformation.”

The discussion featured prominent leaders from various industries, including Jim Kavanaugh, Co-Founder and CEO of World Wide Technology; Girish Saligram, President and CEO of Weatherford; Pernille Lind Olsen, President of Henkel North America; Paul Griggs, Senior Partner at PwC US; and Charles Giancarlo, CEO of Pure Storage. Together, they examined corporate advancements and unwavering commitments to sustainability.

As the global focus on sustainability intensifies, striking a balance between economic growth and environmental stewardship has emerged as a critical challenge. Businesses must explore innovative solutions to achieve long-term development while fostering harmonious coexistence with society and the planet.
